Dave’s Driving School believes “you deserve the best!”  We are based in Salt Lake City and Utah County. We are bringing you the best in student drivers education.  We know what it takes to become a great driver. We are going the extra mile to insure that we put safe and defensive drivers on the road. We give our students twice as much driving time as the high schools do. We have no range driving because of this.

We offer a 9 day driver education class to anyone 15 years of age or older.  It is not necessary to have a learner permit to start our program. We prefer to have our students take this class as soon as possible after they turn 15. It will help them pass the written test that is required to obtain a learner permit and allow them to start getting their 40 driving hours with their parents and their 6 hours of driving instruction with us. If you decide to try to pass this test before taking the class, we suggest that you go to the closest DLD (Drivers License Division) and pick up a free handbook and study it first. They are required to get 80% on this 50 question Exam.

We offer combined classroom and driving instruction, driving lessons only or just the classroom only.

Please feel free to call or email Dave at 801-602-6065 or bbdaveus@yahoo.com and he can explain all of this in more detail. We want to make this process as painless as possible for you.

Our classroom driver education program runs for 9 days (Mon. – Fri.) for 2 hours per class period.  These classes are taught at various schools and locations throughout the Salt Lake City and surrounding areas, as well as Utah County. We usually start our classes around 3:00. (see Locations)

Our goal is to help you get your driver license in a timely manner with the least amount of money possible, without compromising quality.  We offer over 30 years of teaching experience. Dave has taught drivers education at Alta High School, Jordan High School and Cottonwood High School. (see Instructors)

As an added bonus to our services, we provide a courtesy ride home for our students that are driving and observing if necessary. We always try to have at least two students in the car at all times. This allows for observation time too. We usually go out driving four times for 1-2 hours each time.

If you have any questions that our website doesn’t answer, please contact us.  We want to help! We are here to serve you! We guarantee your satisfaction!

The cost of our classroom and driving combination is $250. Driving only is $240 and classroom only is $30.

We hope to hear from you soon.

  1. I’m interested in driving lessons this summer for my daughter. Will you be offering any lessons during July or August?

    • We offer year round drive time. Most likely there will be no classroom instruction in July. August 1 there will be a class held at Alpine City Building in Alpine. 20 North Main.

  2. so if i go through your program do i still ultimately have to hold a permit to obtain a license?

    • Yes. You need to have a learner’s permit before you can obtain a license. If you are over 19, you must hold it for three months or take a driver’s ed course.

      • According to the drivers license division if you’re 19 you do not have to have a permit.

      • You DO have to hold a permit. Everyone does. If you are older than 19 years of age, you only have to hold it for 90 days (3 months). You can call the DLD at 801.816.2607

      • If you decide to take the course, you don’t have to hold the permit the full 90 days. You can complete the requirements as soon as you finish the course.

  3. I could not find a phone number but would like to sign up my son, James.
